Dwight Powell in Toronto, Ontario for the NBA Americas Team Camp spoke with media and tackled topics about AAU basketball, prep south of the border, Stanford and his future prospects with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Dwight a Toronto native was selected with the 45th overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft by the Charlotte Hornets. On July 12, 2014, Powell’s rights were traded, along with Brendan Haywood, to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for Scotty Hopson and cash considerations.

As a senior in high school at IMG Academy, FL he averaged 23.2 points, 11.6 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 2.3 blocks per game.

In his senior season at Stanford he was named to the All-Pac-12 first team for the second time in his career, and the NCAA All-South Regional Team. He was also named the Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year and a Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention selection. In 36 games (all starts), he averaged 14.0 points and 6.9 rebounds per game

Powell played with the Canadian national team during an exhibition tour throughout Europe this summer that concluded last week. His camp is hopeful contract negotiations will accelerate soon sources told Hoops Hype Canada Tuesday.
