Thursday morning through his personal Twitter handle, Jerry Stackhouse tweeted that a 16U team for his AAU program Stackhouse Elite will be based out of Toronto and  participate in the Adidas Gauntlet.

Established in 2011, Stackhouse Elite has been under the leadership of the 18 year NBA veteran Jerry Stackhouse. Stackhouse is part of an extensive list of NBA stars and alumni who have started their own AAU programs including LeBron James, Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony.

Former Raptor Jermaine Jackson has been appointed head coach of Stackhouse Elite 16U based out of Toronto.

Toronto Stackhouse Elite will be coached by former Raptor Jermaine Jackson, who spent two seasons in Toronto between 2001-2002. Jackson will also serve as the teams director.

“I’m excited to assist Jerry with fulfilling his dream of giving back to the youth through the game of basketball,”  Jermaine Jackson told Hoops Hype Canada.  “Toronto Stackhouse Elite will be built on the same foundation and principles that helped mold the two of us into the men we’ve become.”

Since retiring from professional basketball in 2012 Jackson recently spent two years as head coach of Mt. Clemens High School in Michigan.

Jackson compiled a 24-2 record in 2013-14 that included a run to the Class C quarterfinals, Jackson also led Mt. Clemens to a 21-2 record in the 2012-13 season with an appearance in the region championships. A win percentage of 91.8 percent.

Each year, Mt. Clemens the lost in the state tournament to the eventual state champion, falling to Flint Beecher in 2013 and Detroit Consortium (featuring ESPN No. 3 ranked 2016 Josh Jackson) in 2014.

So Why Toronto?

“Toronto has always been a second home to me. I’ve been back and forth training many Canadians since my days as a Raptor and since I started I always kept a pulse on the grassroots level,” Jackson told Hoops Hype Canada. “Jerry is dedicated to maintaining an environment in Toronto that fosters the development of athletic skill and knowledge in the game of basketball at the highest level, so I’m all in!”

The Stackhouse Elite 17U team is based out of Atlanta and their 15U roster will be based out of North Carolina.16U Toronto tryout details are as followed, Both Jerry Stackhouse and Jermaine Jackson will be present.
