Windsor, ON’s Munis Tutu will take his talents to Loyola Marymount University beginning in 2015.

Tutu the starting point guard at La Lumiere in La Porte, IN pledged allegiance Thursday after he visited the Lions campus March 2nd through March 4th.

Tutu was also receiving some interest from Butler and had another offer from Binghamton.

“They need a point guard. They were in contact with me heavy. They had a an in-home visit with my parents and they want me to go in there and make an impact right away.” Tutu told Hoops Hype Canada about LMU.

Moving forward Tutu admitted that their is still work to be done,

“I just got to be more consistent in practice and make my teammates better,” Tutu told Hoops Hype Canada on what he needs to improve on entering the next level. “I got to continue improving as leader in practice and bring that into games.”

In February Tutu went head to head versus Jamal Murray at the La Lumiere Classic, he gave up 5 inches to Murray but still came away with the win dropping 17 points and 6 assists in a Lakers victory.

In three games at the La Lumiere Classic Tutu averaged 17.6 points per game, shot 73% from inside the arc (14/18) and 62% behind it (5/7).

Last summer he strangle held the starting point guard role for the U18 Canadian team that finished with a silver at the FIBA Americas.

“I’m not sure if I’m going to play but I think I am,” Tutu said about his prospects playing at this summers U19 World Championships in Greece.

As for passing the torch on to any up and coming Windsor, ON point guards; Tutu mentioned 2016 Isaiah Familia and 2018’s Marcei Caston and Maurice Calloo as potential successors,

“My boy Isaiah Familia, Maurice Calloo and Marcei Caston who I’ve known since I was younger and when I’m back we are always hooping, he has great potential.”
