La Porte, IN – Indiana prep power La Lumiere this weekend is hosting the Lakers Classic showcase. Four teams will play each other once with Friday nights marquee match between hosts La Lumiere and Orangeville Prep headlining the event.

Post grad program Don Bosco from Indiana replaced 22 FT Academy, SC and joins La Lumiere, Orangeville Prep alongside St. Louis Christian from Missouri.

Day 1 featured a double header and a plethora of NCAA coaches in attendance. Following is a list of who was seen inside the Marsch building Thursday evening

Game 1
Don Bosco, IN 77 Orangeville Prep 69 FINAL

2016 7’0” Thon Maker 17 points 11 rebounds – struggled inside the arc shooting 2-of-10. Behind the arc different story nailing 3-of-5. Maker also went a perfect 4-for-4 from the charity stripe and was a rebounding machine throughout.

2017 6’10” Matur Maker 14 points 6 rebounds – In his unorthodox fashion Matur did what he does best and that is be a menace around the rim. End result 5-for-7 inside the paint and 6 rebounds along the way. He refrained from perimeter shooting, not one attempt from behind the arc but showed his shooting touch at the free throw line knocking down 6-for-6.

2016 6’5” Jamal Murray 11 points, 3 assists, 2 rebounds – shot 5-for-10 inside the arc and 0-for-3 behind it. His primary responsibility of facilitating seemed to stifle his offensive output.  These type of Murray performances are usually followed up with statement games. With La Lumiere on tap for Day 2 look for the #1 2016 in Canada to get to the stripe (1-for-1) and look for his own more often.

La Lumiere, IN 59 St. Louis Christian, MO 52 FINAL

2017 6’5” Nickiel Alexander Walker 19 points – Strong showing from 2017 Canadian specifically from behind the arc where he was 4-for-8. Inside he was also effective knocking down 2-of-4. At the charity stripe finished 3-for-3. He finished with a game high in points for St. Louis Christian with 6 of them coming in the final 2 minutes with his team trailing double digits.

2016 5’10” Godwin Boahen 5 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists – Starting point guard for St. Louis Christian was aggressive and assertive facilitating and efficient when he looked for his. Shot 2-for-2 from the field, 1-of-3 from the FT line and crashed the boards throughout. Most impressive was his will to challenge La Lumiere big men in several efforts attacking the seams.

2015 6’0” PG Munis Tutu 16 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists – Was solid especially offensively in the second half. At the intermission he was sitting on 2p/2r/1a. Tutu missed his only three ball attempt but was the stick that stirred the drink for La Lumiere who was missing their starting shooting guard Jalen Coleman. Tutu shot 6-for-8 from the field inside the arc including fiinishing at the rim with contact, knocking down pull up jumpers from both mid range and inside.

2016 6’9” Nolan Narain 11 points, 4 rebounds – Sixth man for La Lumiere was efficient in the low post going 2-for-2 (drawing an And1 on one possession).  Showed his shooting touch going 5-of-6 from the charity stripe and also his shooting range hitting 1-of-3 behind the arc.

2016 6’5” Brandon Cyrus 9 points, 7 rebounds – Swing man started the game strong relenteless chasing rebounds . Cyrus shot 3 for 9 inside the arc and was 1-of-3 from behind the arc. Most impressively Cyrus was a focal point on the defensive end which in turn caused St. Louis Christian struggle on the perimeter throughout the game.
