Combo guard Jaaden Lewis was the #24-ranked 2016 prospect in the Canadian class by Hoops Hype Canada in early October.

Featured as a rising talent in the 2014-15 pre-season rankings Lewis one month later took the Father Henry Carr Early Bird Classic stage and reiterated his rising rank. Lewis led Thornlea to the Championship game finishing with a silver medal. In the semi finals he registered 13 points then followed up a with strong showing in the finals collecting a game high 24 points.

Last summer Lewis travelled on the AAU circuit with Association Gold a secondary 2016 team of the Under Armour flagship program Canada Elite. With a hot start to his high school season and continued success, the possibility of suiting up with Canada Elite’s primary 2016 team featuring 2016 Justin Jackson (Findlay Prep) next summer is not out of the realm of possibilities.

Thornlea head coach Shane James told Hoops Hype Canada that Lewis has the potential to become a serious candidate for the Toronto high school scoring title in 2014-15,

“Jaaden is a silent killer, nobody really know’s about him,” said James. “I’ve been telling people watch out for this kid because he probably is one of the two best scorers in the Greater Toronto Area. Him and Chase Vassell.”

The third year Thornlea head coach praised what Lewis has to offer as he pursues a post secondary scholarship in the NCAA ranks.

“He mixes it up, can shoot the three, can put it on the floor and can even post it up which is lost art with guards.”

The following footage is from his performance in the championship game followed by a brief post game interview with Hoops Hype Canada’s high school basketball correspondent Ian Douglas.
