HHC Sources: Kansas Target Kigab Transferring From Prolific Prep?
Multiple prep programs on the east coast have been entertaining calls for Canadian international.
1998 born Abu Kigab is reportedly contemplating a switch of school entering the 2016-17 high school season. According to more then a multiple prep programs on the east coast Kigab’s camp have been shopping his talents this spring. Sources close to the situation are citing ‘over recruitment’ at Prolific Prep and desire for an ‘expanded role’ next season as reasons for a potential move.
Kigab a 6-7 point forward is infamous in Canadian hoops from his season for the ages in 2014-15 leading St. Francis from St. Catherine’s, Ontario to a 3A OFSAA championship. Kigab parlayed his domestic high school success into a successful summer that saw him walk on to the U19 Canada team that participated in last Summer’s World Championships. Kigab was also selected to represent Canada at the Nike Global Games, Adidas Nations and is a two time BioSteel All Canadian.
In one year at Prolific Prep under the shadows of Kansas bound Justin Jackson among others, Kigab still showed off his metal. Abu picked up a pair of high major offers from both Kansas and California.
Also note with the growing number of prep options in Canada, a return home north the border for his final high school season is a strong possibility too. Expansion program Lincoln Prep out of Hamilton, ON who recently hired his AAU coach as General Manager seems like an ideal situation and would be a mammoth coupe for the Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association (OSBA) in year two.
This spring Kigab travelled the live period with Nike EYBL outfit Oakland Soldiers. In seven games played he averaged 8.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per game in 17 minutes a contest.
Whether fact or fiction about Abu Kigab being on the prep free agent market, one thing for sure is the man nicknamed Sultan of Motor for his relentless work ethic can play for any high school program on the planet let alone Prolific Prep.
Let’s see how this one irons out.
