HHC: Life at St. Andrew’s College, one of the top private educational institutions in Canada. Harvard bound 14′ Chris Egi told us last summer you had next. How was your season as the teams focal point and did it go as expected or even better?

DC: The season went well we had a great season winning the silver medal @ double A ofsaa. I personally had a frustrating season due to injuries but when I got healthy I started to play like my old self and I contributed to my teams success.

HHC: That following a gold medal last summer at nationals with Team Ontario. This Spring your traveling the AAU circuit w/powerhouse CIA Bounce. 2nd place in Akron, OH and qualified for Peach Jam last live period. Your thoughts on the tight battle with King James Shooting Stars in the championship game?

DC: Team Ontario was great I have improved my game since last summer and with [CIA] Bounce I think we are going to have a special summer because we have a deep and talented team. We all believe that we could have won that game but we take the L as motivation to get better and to beat them when ever we play them next.

HHC: The transition to CIA Bounce has you playing steeper competition and higher caliber tournaments compared to Team Ontario. With that comes more coaches on the sidelines. What can they expect from you on the court playing for Coach Damps when evaluating? Any dream colleges?

DC: With higher level competition all that I can do is increase my level of intensity and raise my game to compete in every game. My Dream school would be USC. Southern Cal.

HHC: Improvements in your game have caught the attention of some high profile American prep schools. Any timetable for a decision on going South for school? Or any short list of programs that you are pondering?

DC: I will be attending St Benedict’s prep next year. Coach Taylor knows what he’s doing and St B’s is a proven school and his coaching staff is high level.

HHC: Any collegiate or professional baller(s) you can relate your game to and why?

DC: Kawhi Leonard
I like his game he’s low maintainance and he gets the job done every game.

Coach Damps from CIA Bounce gave HHC a verbal glimpse of what to expect from Cummings at the collegiate level as his window for obtaining a scholarship closes,

“Very skilled wing. Can stretch the floor with his shot. Can defend on the wing and with his good feet and size can defend the post. Tough, consistent kid”
